耶和華使他的百姓生養眾多，使他們比敵人強盛，

我們知道，萬事都互相效力，叫愛神的人得益處，就是按他旨意被召的人。

就很煩惱，因為使徒們教導百姓，傳揚在耶穌的事上證明有死人復活，於是下手拿住他們；因為天已經晚了，就把他們押在拘留所到第二天。但聽道的人有許多信了，男人的數目約有五千。

他對自己的百姓說：「看哪，以色列人的百姓比我們還多，又比我們強盛。

因為主所愛的，他必管教，又鞭打他所接納的每一個孩子。」為了受管教，你們要忍受。神待你們如同待兒女。哪有兒女不被父親管教的呢？管教原是眾兒女共同所領受的；你們若不受管教，就是私生子，不是兒女了。再者，我們曾有肉身之父管教我們，我們尚且敬重他，何況靈性之父，我們豈不更當順服他而得生命嗎？肉身之父都是短時間隨己意管教我們，惟有靈性之父管教我們是要我們得益處，使我們在他的聖潔上有份。凡管教的事，當時不覺得快樂，反覺得痛苦；後來卻為那經過鍛鍊的人結出平安的果子，就是義的果子。

說：「我們不是嚴嚴地禁止你們，不可奉這名教導人嗎？看，你們倒把你們的道理充滿了耶路撒冷，想要叫這人的血歸到我們身上！」彼得和眾使徒回答：「我們必須順從神，勝於順從人。你們掛在木頭上殺害的耶穌，我們祖宗的神已經使他復活了。神把他高舉在自己的右邊，使他作元帥，作救主，使以色列人得以悔改，並且罪得赦免。我們是這些事的見證人；神賜給順從的人的聖靈也為這些事作見證。」議會的人聽了極其惱怒，想要殺他們。

法利賽人彼此說：「你們看，你們一事無成，世人都隨着他去了。」

沒有人能以智慧、聰明、謀略抵擋耶和華。

憤怒害死愚妄人，嫉妒殺死愚蠢的人。

憤怒為殘忍，怒氣像狂瀾，惟有嫉妒，誰能擋得住呢？
