大利烏王二年六月朔、耶和華命先知哈基諭設鐵子猶大方伯所羅把伯、約撒答子祭司長約書亞曰、萬有之主耶和華云、斯民自謂建耶和華殿、其期未屆、惟耶和華使先知哈基傳命、曰、爾所居之屋、以板附壁、使斯殿荒蕪、豈在斯時乎、今萬有之主耶和華曰、當察爾所為、爾播多穫少、食不果腹、飲不止渴、衣不得暖、工得其金、盛於敝囊。萬有之主耶和華又曰、當察爾所為、耶和華曰、登山曳木、以建斯殿、使我獲榮、悅我心志、昔爾慕多得少、攜物至家、我吹之飄沒者、誠何故耶、因爾各顧其廬、而我殿宇傾圮、毫不介意、萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。是以天不降甘露、地不產庶物、我使平原山岡、不沾膏澤、五穀酒油、及大地之所播而生、人畜之所勞而得者、俱必匱乏、設鐵子所羅把伯、約撒答子祭司長約書亞、及諸遺民、遵其上帝耶和華所使先知哈基傳命之言而敬畏耶和華。耶和華之使哈基、遂以耶和華之命、傳之民云、耶和華曰、我必眷佑爾眾、於是耶和華感設鐵子猶大方伯所羅把伯、約撒答子、祭司長約書亞、及諸遺民之心、咸至萬有之主上帝耶和華之殿、大興工作、此大利烏王二年六月二十四日事也。七月二十一日、耶和華命先知哈基曰、

大利烏王二年八月、耶和華命易多孫比哩家子先知撒加利亞曰、昔爾列祖、我耶和華嘗震怒之矣、當告斯民云、萬有之主耶和華曰、爾歸誠於我、我必復加眷顧、我萬有之主耶和華已言之矣、爾勿效祖所為、古先知告之曰、萬有之主耶和華云、棄惡勿作、彼不聽從、爾之列祖、於今安在、古之先知、豈得永存、昔我使我僕先知傅命、言必降災、斯災已及爾祖、彼遂悛悔、自謂萬有之主耶和華所立之旨、欲降以災、罰我所為、今及我躬矣、大利烏王二年十一月、即西拔月二十四日、耶和華降旨於易多孫比哩家子先知撒加利亞、撒加利亞曰、我於夤夜、見有貌若人、乘赤馬、立於山麓、岡拈樹下、其後有乘赤黃白馬者、我曰主、此何意歟、與我言之、天使曰、我將以斯意、明示乎爾、立於岡拈樹間者曰、此乃耶和華所遣、遍歷塵寰。乘馬者謂立於岡拈樹間、耶和華之使者、曰、我遍歷塵寰、見天下安佚無虞。耶和華之使者曰、萬有之主耶和華與、歷七十年、爾怒耶路撒冷與猶大諸邑、毫無矜憫、伊於何底、耶和華以善言、慰藉與我言之使者、與我言之使者、告我曰、爾當布告眾庶、萬有之主耶和華曰、我為耶路撒冷、以及郇邑、熱中不已、昔我微怒斯民、異邦安佚之人、加我民以患難、我深為不悅、故我耶和華復臨耶路撒冷、而矜憫之、以繩量度、建我殿於其中、我萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。當復告眾云、萬有之主耶和華曰、我耶和華必復慰藉郇邑、眷顧耶路撒冷、使我諸邑、靡不亨通、永無涯涘、撒加利亞曰、我仰觀四角、詢於天使、曰、此何意與、答曰、此角乃使猶大、以色列、耶路撒冷之民、流離失所者、耶和華以工師四人示我、我曰、彼來欲何為、曰、前所見之四角、即異邦人崢嶸其角、攻擊猶大眾、使民離散、能扞禦者、卒無一人、今工師已來、使之震動、擲之於地。
