Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,

At that time, bushes had not yet appeared on the earth. Plants had not started to grow. The Lord God had not sent rain on the earth. And there was no one to farm the land.

When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up— for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,

neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the Lord God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil.

因此，耶和华上帝就把亚当赶出伊甸园，让他去开垦土地——他的本源。

后来，夏娃又生了该隐的弟弟亚伯。长大后，亚伯做了牧羊人，该隐做了农夫。

上帝说：“陆地要长出植物——各类结种子的菜蔬和结果子的树木，果子内都有籽。”果然如此，陆地长出了植物——各类结种子的菜蔬和结果子的树木，果子内都有籽。上帝看了，感到满意。

一块经常受到雨水滋润的田地若为耕种的人长出庄稼来，就蒙上帝赐福；

你种地，地却不会再为你长出任何东西，你必在地上四处漂泊。”

祂使绿草如茵，滋养牲畜，让人种植作物，享受大地的出产，

这样，你们才是天父的孩子。因为祂让阳光照好人也照坏人，降雨给义人也给恶人。

在列国供奉的偶像中，谁能赐下雨水呢？天能自降甘霖吗？我们的上帝耶和华啊，难道不是只有你能行这些事吗？是你赐雨水降甘霖，所以我们仰望你。

使雨水降在杳无人烟之地，降在无人居住的旷野，以滋润荒凉不毛之地，使土地长出青草？雨水有父亲吗？谁生的露珠？

祂使云雾从地极上升，发出电光，带来雨水，从祂的仓库带出风来。

祂降下雨水浇灌大地，赐下甘霖滋润田园。

你眷顾大地，降下沛雨，使土地肥沃富饶。上帝啊，你使江河涌流不息，浇灌大地，为世人预备五谷。你降下甘霖，浇透垄沟，滋润垄背，使地松软、长出庄稼。你赐下丰年福月，你的脚踪恩泽满溢。
