“ Do not harm the boy!” the angel said.“ Do not do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God because you did not withhold your son, your only son, from me.”

天使说：“不要动孩子，不可伤害他！现在我知道你敬畏上帝，因为你不惜献上你的儿子——你的独生子。”

天使说：“不可在这孩子身上下手，一点也不可害他；现在我知道你是敬畏神的了，因为你没有留下你的儿子、你的独生子不给我。”

使者说：“不可向这少年下手，什么也不可对他做！现在我知道你是敬畏神的，因为你没有把你的儿子，就是你的独生子，留下不给我。”

天使說：『不可伸手宰兒童；害他的事、你一點也不可作；如今我知道你是敬畏上帝的；因為你沒有留下你兒子、你獨生的兒子、而不給我。』

曰、爾於孺子、勿著手、勿加傷、蓋爾於我、不惜獨生之子、我知爾寅畏上帝矣、

曰、爾子莫擊莫傷、我知爾畏我、蓋爾嫡子、惟此一人、猶且不惜、以獻於我。

今我知爾實畏天主矣、

“ Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said.“ Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

He said,“ Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

“ Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said.“ Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.”

Then he said,“ Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.”

He said,“ Do not reach out your hand against the boy, and do not do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

And He said,“ Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

Then He said,“ Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from Me.”

And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only[ son] from me.

He said,“ Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?You see that his faith was working together with his works and his faith was perfected by works.

Then Samuel said,“ Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as he does in obedience? Certainly, obedience is better than sacrifice; paying attention is better than the fat of rams.

But someone will say,“ You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith without works and I will show you faith by my works.

All this will come to pass because Abraham obeyed me and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.

Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all– how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?

The LORD takes delight in his faithful followers, and in those who wait for his loyal love.

The LORD’s loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them.

They have built places here for worship of the god Baal so that they could sacrifice their children as burnt offerings to him in the fire. Such sacrifices are something I never commanded them to make! They are something I never told them to do! Indeed, such a thing never even entered my mind!

But for you who respect my name, the sun of vindication will rise with healing wings, and you will skip about like calves released from the stall.

But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced peace and thus was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the church increased in numbers.

Fearing the LORD is the beginning of moral knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.

For if the eagerness is present, the gift itself is acceptable according to whatever one has, not according to what he does not have.

And whoever has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

“ Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

With what should I enter the LORD’s presence? With what should I bow before the sovereign God? Should I enter his presence with burnt offerings, with year-old calves?Will the LORD accept a thousand rams, or ten thousand streams of olive oil? Should I give him my firstborn child as payment for my rebellion, my offspring– my own flesh and blood– for my sin?He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the LORD really wants from you: He wants you to promote justice, to be faithful, and to live obediently before your God.

The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live.

In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.

Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.

I will make a lasting covenant with them that I will never stop doing good to them. I will fill their hearts and minds with respect for me so that they will never again turn away from me.

He will deliver you from six calamities; yes, in seven no evil will touch you.

And he said to mankind,‘ The fear of the LORD– that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

However, fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Just look at the great things he has done for you!But if you continue to do evil, both you and your king will be swept away.”

On the third day Joseph said to them,“ Do as I say and you will live, for I fear God.

God said,“ Take your son– your only son, whom you love, Isaac– and go to the land of Moriah! Offer him up there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will indicate to you.”

Serve the LORD in fear! Repent in terror!

Certainly the LORD guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction.

But the former governors who preceded me had burdened the people and had taken food and wine from them, in addition to forty shekels of silver. Their associates were also domineering over the people. But I did not behave in this way, due to my fear of God.

Moses said to the people,“ Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you so that you do not sin.”

Abraham replied,“ Because I thought,‘ Surely no one fears God in this place. They will kill me because of my wife.’

Then a voice came from the throne, saying:“ Praise our God all you his servants, and all you who fear him, both the small and the great!”

and he reasoned that God could even raise him from the dead, and in a sense he received him back from there.

So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.

Even though a sinner might commit a hundred crimes and still live a long time, yet I know that it will go well with God-fearing people– for they stand in fear before him.But it will not go well with the wicked, nor will they prolong their days like a shadow, because they do not stand in fear before God.

To obey the LORD is the fundamental principle for wise living; all who carry out his precepts acquire good moral insight. He will receive praise forever.Praise the LORD! How blessed is the one who obeys the LORD, who takes great delight in keeping his commands.
