So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.

示剑和米罗的人都聚集到示剑石柱旁的橡树下，拥立亚比米勒为王。

当天约书亚与民众立约，在示剑为他们订立律例和典章。约书亚把这些话都写在上帝的律法书上，又把一块大石头竖立在耶和华圣所旁边的橡树下。

但我有一个要求，请你们把抢来的耳环都给我。”原来米甸人属于以实玛利族，都戴金耳环。他们欣然同意，便铺开一件外衣，各自把抢来的金耳环都放在上面，重约二十公斤。此外，还有米甸王的月牙饰物、耳坠、紫袍以及骆驼颈上的金链。基甸用这些金子造了一件以弗得圣衣，放在自己的家乡俄弗拉。后来，以色列人拜那件以弗得，玷污自己，使基甸及其全家陷入网罗。

我要惩罚她，因为她在节日向巴力烧香。那时她戴耳环佩首饰，追逐她的情人，把我忘记。这是耶和华说的。

又把他们铸造的牛犊熔化掉，磨成粉末撒在水面上，叫以色列百姓喝。

到那日，众人必把造来敬拜的金银偶像丢给田鼠和蝙蝠。

你们要拆毁他们的祭坛，打碎他们的神柱，砍下他们的亚舍拉神像，焚烧他们的偶像。

你们要烧毁他们的神像，不可贪图神像上的金银，不可将那些金银据为己有，免得你们因此陷入网罗；因为那是你们的上帝耶和华所憎恶的。

你们必抛弃自己那些镀金包银的偶像，把它们当作污秽之物丢掉，对它们说：“去吧！”

亚伦对他们说：“你们去摘下妻子、儿女的金耳环，拿来给我。”百姓就都摘下金耳环交给亚伦。亚伦用这些金耳环铸造了一头牛犊。他们说：“以色列人啊，这就是把你们带出埃及的神明。”
