现在，听我的话，我给你出个主意，愿神与你同在。你要代替百姓到神面前，将事件带到神那里，又要用律例和法度警戒他们，指示他们当行的道，当做的事。你也要从百姓中选出有才能的人，敬畏神、诚实可靠、恨恶不义之财的人，派他们作千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长、十夫长来管理百姓。他们要随时审判百姓；重大的事要送到你这里，小事就由他们自行判决。这样，你就可以轻省一些，他们可以与你分担。

王啊，求你悦纳我的谏言，以施行公义除去罪过，以怜悯穷人除掉罪恶，或者你的平安可以延长。”

所以弟兄们，当从你们中间选出七个有好名声、满有圣灵和智慧，我们派他们管理这事。

你们要按着各支派选出有智慧、明辨是非、为人所知的人来，我就立他们为你们的领袖。’
