For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind,

因為你們上了的並不是一個可摸觸的山：那裏有燒𤏲的火、與昏黑幽冥和旋風、

你們並不是來到了摸得著的山、燃燒著的火、陰雲、幽暗、風暴、

夫爾非至可捫火炎之山、及幽冥、昏暗、暴風、

爾所至者、非有形之山、在彼火焰靉靆、幽暗暴風、

爾所至者、非彼可捫之山、在彼有烈火、密雲、幽暗、暴風、

應知爾今所陟者、非一有形之山、其上有火焰靉靆、幽冥暴風。

You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;

You haven’t come to a mountain that can be touched. You haven’t come to a mountain burning with fire. You haven’t come to darkness, gloom and storm.

For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest

You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai.

For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm,

For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest,

For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwind

You came forward and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire to the heart of the heavens: darkness, cloud, and thick gloom.

And all the people were watching and hearing the thunder and the lightning flashes, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it all, they trembled and stood at a distance.

“ These words the Lord spoke to your whole assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire, from the cloud, and from the thick darkness, with a great voice, and He added nothing more. He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.And when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you approached me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders.You said,‘ Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with mankind, yet he lives.Now then, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer, then we will die!For who is there of humanity who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

And to the eyes of the sons of Israel, the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire on the mountain top.

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out,“ Abba! Father!”

For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness excel in glory.

But you shall set boundaries for the people all around, saying,‘ Beware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mountain shall certainly be put to death.No hand shall touch him, but he shall certainly be stoned or shot through; whether animal or person, the violator shall not live.’ When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain.”So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and consecrated the people, and they washed their garments.He also said to the people,“ Be ready for the third day; do not go near a woman.”So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud over the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the entire mountain quaked violently.When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him with thunder.Then the Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain; and the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.Then the Lord spoke to Moses:“ Go down, warn the people, so that they do not break through to the Lord to stare, and many of them perish.Also have the priests who approach the Lord consecrate themselves, or else the Lord will break out against them.”

For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under the Law but under grace.
