Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?

I’m sure you have heard about what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries. They have destroyed them completely. So do you think you will be saved?

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction. And shall you be delivered?

You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?

Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: they completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?

Behold, you yourself have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them completely. So will you be saved?

Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

恐怕希西家误导你们说，耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神明有哪一个曾救它本国脱离亚述王的手呢？哈马和亚珥拔的神明在哪里呢？西法瓦音的神明在哪里呢？它们曾救撒玛利亚脱离我的手吗？这些国的神明有谁曾救自己的国家脱离我的手呢？难道耶和华能救耶路撒冷脱离我的手吗？’”

何细亚背叛，派使者到埃及王梭那里，不照往年所行的向亚述王进贡。亚述王知道了，就逮捕他，把他囚在监里。亚述王上来攻击以色列全地，上到撒玛利亚，围困这城三年。何细亚第九年，亚述王攻取了撒玛利亚，把以色列人掳到亚述，安置在哈腊与歌散的哈博河边，以及玛代人的城镇。

耶和华啊，亚述诸王果然使列国和列国之地变为荒芜，将列国的神明扔在火里，因为它们不是神明，是人手所造的，是木头、石头，所以被灭绝了。

然而，这并非他的意念，他的心不是这样打算；他的心要摧毁，要剪除不少的国家。他说：“我的官长岂不都是君王吗？迦勒挪岂不像迦基米施吗？哈马岂不像亚珥拔吗？撒玛利亚岂不像大马士革吗？既然我的手已伸到了这些有偶像的国，他们所雕刻的偶像过于耶路撒冷和撒玛利亚的偶像，我岂不照样待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像，如同我待撒玛利亚和其中的偶像吗？”主在锡安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的时候，说：“我必惩罚亚述王自大的心和他高傲尊贵的眼目。”因为他说：“我所成就的事是靠我手的能力和我的智慧，因为我本有聪明。我挪移列国的地界，抢夺他们所积蓄的财宝，并且像勇士，使坐宝座的降为卑。我的手夺取列国的财宝，好像人夺取鸟窝；我得了全地，好像人拾起被弃的鸟蛋；没有振动翅膀的，没有张嘴的，也没有鸣叫的。”

使世界如同荒野，使城镇倾覆；是他，不释放被掳的人归家。’

列国的神明有哪一个曾救它本国脱离亚述王的手呢？哈马、亚珥拔的神明在哪里呢？西法瓦音、希拿、以瓦的神明在哪里呢？它们曾救撒玛利亚脱离我的手吗？这些国的神明有谁曾救自己的国脱离我的手呢？难道耶和华能救耶路撒冷脱离我的手吗？’”
