Look, the LORD is coming out of his dwelling place! He will descend and march on the earth’s mountaintops!The mountains will disintegrate beneath him, and the valleys will be split in two. The mountains will melt like wax in a fire, the rocks will slide down like water cascading down a steep slope.

And just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens splitting apart and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

the earth shakes, yes, the heavens pour down rain before God, the God of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.

Then I saw a large white throne and the one who was seated on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.

The sovereign LORD who commands armies will do this. He touches the earth and it dissolves; all who live on it mourn. The whole earth rises like the River Nile, and then grows calm like the Nile in Egypt.

and be ready for the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.

O LORD, make the sky sink and come down! Touch the mountains and make them smolder!Hurl lightning bolts and scatter them! Shoot your arrows and rout them!

I have come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up from that land to a land that is both good and spacious, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the region of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

“ Be sure of this, the time is coming,” says the LORD,“ when the plowman will catch up to the reaper and the one who stomps the grapes will overtake the planter. Juice will run down the slopes, it will flow down all the hillsides.

O LORD, when you departed from Seir, when you marched from Edom’s plains, the earth shook, the heavens poured down, the clouds poured down rain.The mountains trembled before the LORD, the God of Sinai; before the LORD God of Israel.

The mountains tremble before him, the hills convulse; the earth is laid waste before him, the world and all its inhabitants are laid waste.No one can withstand his indignation! No one can resist his fierce anger! His wrath is poured out like volcanic fire, boulders are broken up as he approaches.

Look down from heaven and take notice, from your holy, majestic palace! Where are your zeal and power? Do not hold back your tender compassion!

Now Mount Sinai was completely covered with smoke because the LORD had descended on it in fire, and its smoke went up like the smoke of a great furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, Moses was speaking and God was answering him with a voice.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown. God gives a shout, the earth dissolves.

This is a prayer of Habakkuk the prophet:LORD, I have heard the report of what you did; I am awed, LORD, by what you accomplished. In our time repeat those deeds; in our time reveal them again. But when you cause turmoil, remember to show us mercy!God comes from Teman, the sovereign one from Mount Paran. Selah. The great deep shouts out; it lifts its hands high.The sun and moon stand still in their courses; the flash of your arrows drives them away, the bright light of your lightning-quick spear.You furiously stomp on the earth, you angrily trample down the nations.You march out to deliver your people, to deliver your special servant. You strike the leader of the wicked nation, laying him open from the lower body to the neck. Selah.

The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.Why do you flee, O sea? Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?Tremble, O earth, before the Lord– before the God of Jacob,

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes, the heavens will disappear with a horrific noise, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze, and the earth and every deed done on it will be laid bare.Since all these things are to melt away in this manner, what sort of people must we be, conducting our lives in holiness and godliness,while waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God? Because of this day, the heavens will be burned up and dissolve, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze!
