A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;

這子民當著我的面不斷地惹我惱怒，他們在園林裡獻祭，在磚頭上燒香；

在於我前、恆激我怒、獻祭於園、焚香於瓦、

彼在我前、恆干震怒、獻祭於園囿、焚香於瓦壇。

a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;

They are always making me very angry. They do it right in front of me. They offer sacrifices in the gardens of other gods. They burn incense on altars that are made out of bricks.

All day long they insult me to my face by worshiping idols in their sacred gardens. They burn incense on pagan altars.

These people continually anger me to my face, sacrificing in gardens, burning incense on bricks,

A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face; Who sacrifice in gardens, And burn incense on altars of brick;

a people that provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense upon bricks;

These people continually provoke Me to My face, sacrificing in gardens, burning incense on bricks,

These people continually and blatantly offend me as they sacrifice in their sacred orchards and burn incense on brick altars.

a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense on bricks;

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one[ tree] in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings[ are] against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.For this city hath been to me[ as] a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching[ them], yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.And they built the high places of Baal, which[ are] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through[ the fire] unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen[ that] which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

They have moved me to jealousy with[ that which is] not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with[ those which are] not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon:[ of] shittim wood shalt thou make it.A cubit[ shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: and two cubits[ shall be] the height thereof: the horns thereof[ shall be] of the same.And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about.And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by the two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make[ it]; and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.And thou shalt make the staves[ of] shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.And thou shalt put it before the vail that[ is] by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that[ is] over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it[ is] most holy unto the LORD.

Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen[ this], O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice,[ yet] will I not hear them.

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that[ were] round about them,[ concerning] whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images,[ even] two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness,[ and] grieve him in the desert!

[ For] when I had brought them into the land,[ for] the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them[ for] peace offerings unto the LORD.

Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.[ Ye] serpents,[ ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and[ some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and[ some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute[ them] from city to city:That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
