As Moses had promised, Hebron was given to Caleb, who drove from it the three sons of Anak.

惟耶孚尼子迦勒盡心從我耶和華、則必得見、其所履之地、我將賜之及其子孫、

惟我僕迦勒緣聽從我、不與眾同心、我必使其得入所往之地、使其後裔得以為業、

予之亞衲族之祖亞巴之邑、即猶大山地之希伯崙、與邑四圍之郊、惟屬邑之田與鄉里、則予耶孚尼子迦勒為業、

上迦南之南地、至希伯崙、在彼有亞衲族人、亞希幔、示篩、撻買、建希伯崙城、先於建伊及之瑣安城七年、

當時摩西誓我曰、爾既順從主我之天主、故爾足所履之地、必歸爾與爾子孫、永遠為業、自主諭摩西時、至今四十五年矣、其間以色列人遊行曠野、主踐其前言、保全保全原文作生存我至於今日、今我年八十五歲矣、我力尚健、與摩西遣我之時無異、我力尚如彼時、能出入以戰、今求以當時許我之山、賜我為業、其時爾聞在彼有亞衲族人、其城垣高大鞏固、若夢主祐我、則可逐之、如主所許、約書亞為耶孚尼子迦勒祝福、以希伯崙予之為業、緣基尼洗族耶孚尼子迦勒、順從主以色列之天主、故得希伯崙為業、至於今日、
