I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said,“ Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.

I gave the same message to Zedekiah, the king of Judah. I said,“ Put your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon. Obey him. Serve his people. Then you will live.

To Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke in like manner:“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people and live.

Then I repeated this same message to King Zedekiah of Judah.“ If you want to live, submit to the yoke of the king of Babylon and his people.

当年，就是犹大王西底家开始执政的第四年五月，基遍人押朔的儿子哈拿尼雅先知，在耶和华殿中，当着祭司和众民的面前对我说：

耶利米对西底家说：“耶和华万军的神、以色列的神这样说：‘你若出去归降巴比伦王的将领，你的性命就可以存活；这城也不会被火焚烧，你和你一家都可以存活。

“‘无论哪一国、哪一邦，不服事巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒，不把颈项放在巴比伦王的轭下，我必用刀剑、饥荒和瘟疫去惩罚那国，直到我藉着巴比伦王的手把他们完全消灭。’这是耶和华的宣告。

唯有听从我的，必安然居住，得享安宁，免受灾祸的惊恐。”

“耶和华对我这样说：‘你要用绳套和木头做轭，套在自己的颈上。然后藉着那些前来耶路撒冷朝见犹大王西底家的使臣的手，把轭送到以东王、摩押王、亚扪王、推罗王、西顿王那里。

西底家登基的时候，是二十一岁；他在耶路撒冷作王共十一年，他行耶和华他的神看为恶的事；耶利米先知奉耶和华的命令警戒他，他仍不在耶利米面前谦卑下来。尼布甲尼撒王曾经使他指着神起誓，他还是背叛了尼布甲尼撒；他顽固执拗，不肯归向耶和华以色列的神。

耶和华的话临到我说：“你要对那叛逆的民族说：‘你们不知道这些事是什么意思吗？’你要告诉他们：‘看哪！巴比伦王曾到耶路撒冷来，把其中的王和众领袖掳去，带他们到巴比伦那里去。他从以色列王室后裔中选出一人，与他立约，叫他起誓，并且把国中那些有势力的人掳去，使国衰微，不能再兴盛，唯有谨守条约他才可以继续存在。可是这人背叛了巴比伦王，差遣使者到埃及去，要得战马和大军。他能亨通吗？行这样事的人，怎能逃脱呢？他破坏条约，怎能逃脱呢？我指着我的永生起誓：他藐视了自己所起的誓，背弃了与王所立的约，因此他必死在巴比伦，就是那立他作王的巴比伦王的国家。这是耶和华的宣告。敌人建造围城的高墙，筑起攻城土垒要剪除多人的时候，法老率领大军和大队人马，还是不能帮助他作战。他藐视誓言，背弃条约；他已宣誓效忠，却又行了这一切事，所以他必不能逃脱。因此主耶和华这样说：我指着我的永生起誓：他既然藐视我的誓言，背弃我的约，我必使这罪归到他的头上。我要把我的网撒在他身上，他必在我的网罗中被捕获；我要把他带到巴比伦去，并且要在那里因他对我不忠的罪审判他。他军中所有的精兵（按照《马索拉文本》，“精兵”作“逃跑的人”；现参照其他抄本、《七十士译本》和其他古译本翻译），都必倒在刀下；剩下的也必分散到四方；你们就知道说这话的是我耶和华。
