良田荒蕪、城邑傾圮、蓋耶和華涖臨、其怒殊烈。

I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the Lord, before his fierce anger.

I looked. And the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were destroyed. The Lord had done all this because of his great anger.

使肥沃之地變為荒蕪的鹽地，都因當地居民的邪惡。

因此，為你們的緣故，錫安要被耕種像一塊田地，耶路撒冷要變為廢墟，這殿的山必如叢林的高處。

我耳聞萬軍之耶和華說：「許多房屋必然荒廢；宏偉華麗，無人居住。十畝的葡萄園只釀出一罷特的酒，一賀梅珥的穀種只結一伊法糧食。」

「那時，主必用大河外雇來的剃頭刀，就是亞述王，剃去你的頭髮和腳毛，並要剃淨你的鬍鬚。「那時，每一個人要養活一頭母牛犢和兩隻母羊；因為奶量充足，他就有乳酪可吃，國內剩餘的人也都能吃乳酪與蜂蜜。「那時，凡種一千棵葡萄樹、價值一千銀子的地方，必長出荊棘和蒺藜。人到那裏去，必帶弓箭，因為遍地長滿了荊棘和蒺藜。所有鋤頭刨過的山地，你因懼怕荊棘和蒺藜，不敢到那裏去；只能作放牛之處，羊羣踐踏之地。」

遍地都被硫磺和鹽所侵蝕，不能耕種，沒有出產，連草都長不出來，好像耶和華在怒氣和憤怒中所傾覆的所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁一樣，萬國必說：『耶和華為甚麼向此地這樣做呢？為甚麼要大發烈怒呢？』人必說：『這是因為這地的人離棄了耶和華－他們列祖的神領他們出埃及地的時候與他們所立的約，去事奉別神，敬拜他們所不認識的神明，這是耶和華未曾允許的。所以耶和華的怒氣向這地發作，將這書上所寫的一切詛咒都降在這地上。耶和華在怒氣、憤怒、大惱恨中將他們從本地拔出來，扔到別的地上，像今日一樣。』

「猶大悲哀，城門衰敗；眾人坐在地上哀慟，耶路撒冷的哀聲上達。他們的貴族打發僮僕去打水；他們來到水池，找不到水，就拿着空器皿，蒙羞慚愧，抱頭而回。因為無雨降在地上，土地就乾裂，農夫為此蒙羞抱頭。田野的母鹿因為無草也撇棄才生的小鹿。野驢站在光禿的高地喘氣，好像野狗；牠們的眼目因無草而失明。」

你，惟獨你是可畏的！你的怒氣一發，誰能在你面前站得住呢？

這地悲哀，一切田野的青草枯乾要到幾時呢？因其上居民的惡行，牲畜和飛鳥都滅絕了。因為他們說：「他看不見我們的結局。」
