予雖未之素識、惟遣予授洗者曾誥予曰：「汝見聖神降臨、止於其身者、是即將以聖神授洗者也。」

我先前不认识他，只是那差我来用水施洗的、对我说：‘你看见圣灵降下来，住在谁的身上，谁就是用圣灵施洗的。’

我素弗識之、惟遣我以水施洗者、語我曰、爾見聖神降而止其上者、即以聖神施洗者也、

And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

I myself did not know him. But the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ You will see the Spirit come down and remain on someone. He is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me,‘ He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me,‘ The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

I didn’t know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The one you see the Spirit descending and resting on— he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me,‘ He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me,‘ Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

I didn’t know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water told me,‘ The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on— He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

And I did not recognize him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me,‘ The one on whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining– this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

蓋如望所用以施洗者水耳、而爾等不日將受聖神之洗矣。』

吾惟以水洗爾、用啟悔悟；然有後我者、威力遠超我上、吾雖為之執履、亦非所宜稱；彼將洗爾於聖神與靈火之中。

如望對眾曰：『吾第以水洗爾、將有威力超我者來、吾雖為之釋履、亦非所宜稱；渠將洗爾以聖神與靈火、

不視人之行為、一惟彼之仁愛、藉重生之洗禮、賜吾人以救拔；因聖神之妙工、予吾人以復新。而天主之所以沛然以聖神傾注於吾人之心者、實以我救主耶穌基督之功。

予甫開言、聖神臨之、一如當日之臨吾儕也。予乃憶主之言曰：「如望以水施洗、而爾等將受聖神之洗焉。」

故無論猶太人也、希臘人也、主也奴也、皆洗於一神、融為一體、且共汲同一之活泉焉。

耶穌對曰：『我切實語爾、人非生於水及神者、無得入天主國。

『爾奉教後曾受聖神否？』答曰：『否、且未聞有聖神也。』葆樂曰：『然則所受何洗？』曰『如望之洗。』葆樂曰：『如望所施、乃悔改洗禮、明言當信後彼來者：即耶穌是已。』彼等聞語、即奉主耶穌名受洗；葆樂為之按手、聖神臨之、咸操方言、逆知未來；

天主所遣者、傳天主之訓、以天主賦以聖神、無有限量故、

宣於眾曰：『有一後我而來者、德能遠超我上、吾雖俯而解其履帶、亦有未稱。吾洗爾以水、彼將洗爾以聖神矣。』

伯鐸祿言未竟、聖神降臨聽道之人。與伯鐸祿偕來之信徒、割禮中人也；見聖神之恩賜、亦傾注於異邦人之身、殊為詫異、以聞若輩操方言而讚揚天主也。於是伯鐸祿曰：『彼等既領聖神、與吾儕無異、孰能禁水而不為施洗耶？』

渠非予所素識、惟予之來茲授洗、正為顯揚斯人於義塞之民耳。』

時耶穌自加利利至約但、來訪如望、欲受其洗。如望辭曰：『吾當受爾之洗、安可就我乎？』耶穌應曰：『茲姑許之、聊以盡義。』如望乃許之。

眾遂飽受聖神、各依聖神所賦、而道異國方言。
