Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

蓋吾已與基督同釘於十字架、而今茲生存者、不復為我、實基督假吾而生。吾今雖尚生於形體之中、亦惟憑信德而生。蓋吾固篤信愛我而為我捐軀之天主聖子也。

耶穌因謂之曰：『爾能恪守吾道、是真吾徒、

蓋吾體乃真食、吾血乃真飲。

爾其慎旃務使所素聞者常寓爾衷。苟得所素聞者常寓爾衷、則爾亦必獲常寓聖子、乃至聖父之懷中。此即永生、亦即天主所夙許於吾人之恩諾也。吾作此語、乃欲斥責一般意圖搖奪爾心之人也。若夫爾等、則固有聖神之膏澤、常潤爾心、實無庸人之喋喋也、蓋聖神之膏澤、循循善誘、真實無妄。務望爾等於其所誨、拳拳服膺、守之勿失。總之、望吾小子、常寓基督懷中庶幾於彼重臨之日、吾人得具自信、而不致無顏以對。

同時仰賴耶穌基督滿結仁義之實、以顯揚天主。

吾為樹身、爾為樹枝。凡寓乎吾身、而有我寓乎其衷者、必結實繁多。離乎吾、爾將一無所能。人而不寓吾內、則如枝之被棄而槁、人將拾之、舉以供爨矣。爾若恆與吾俱、而吾道恆存乎爾、則爾凡有所求、必得如願以償。

倘若天主之神寓於爾心、則爾不依乎欲、而依乎神矣。蓋無基督之神者、非其徒也。誠能得基督寓爾心中、則肉體雖因罪而死、而神魂乃因義而生。

是日既臨、爾等必知予之在父、爾之在予、而予之在爾矣。

其落沃土者、言人既以光明正大之心聞道、且能守之以誠、持之以恆、堅忍不拔、終乃結實。

夫爾等既奉基督耶穌為主、自當行於其中、

予體彼、而父體予、務使彼眾精誠團結、化成一體、庶幾世人知父確曾遣予、且知父愛吾徒、一如愛予。

命其弘宣於萬邦者也。斯玄妙乃無窮景福之寶庫、而光榮希望之靈淵；即寓爾心中之基督是也。

勸眾堅心、信道勿移、曰：『吾人欲入天主之國、必須經歷多難。』

爾曹曷細自檢點、一測爾信德之虛實。爾曹詎不自知基督實寓於爾心中乎？抑爾曹乃為有名無實之信徒乎？

使基督能緣爾之信德、而寓爾心中、使爾於愛德中確立根基、

既至、睹天主恩寵、為之欣然、勸眾堅志、依主不回。

是在爾等篤守信德、確乎不拔、以保因聞福音而得之希望而已。此福音已布於普天生靈、而我葆樂竟得供役於斯。

耶穌乃謂十二子曰：『汝等亦欲引退乎？』西門伯鐸祿對曰：『微主吾誰與歸？

因是吾雖曾三次求主脫吾於此苦、然主謂吾曰：『吾之聖寵、已足助爾、蓋吾德之彰、即在柔弱中也。』故吾欣然以柔弱為樂、庶幾基督之神德、能常寓吾身。吾為基督之故、凡肉體之柔弱、以及一切侮辱、艱難、窘迫、困苦、皆所甘受。蓋吾之弱、正吾之所以強也。

願我愛友、黽勉自勵；於爾神聖之信仰上、好自建立；常憑聖神之默感、以祈以禱；庶克長遊於天主聖愛之中、而望我主耶穌基督加以慈惠、賜以常生。

吾人則非畏首畏尾、終致淪亡之徒也；乃浩然不疑、自求靈祉之人也。

因此吾迫不及待、儘先遣人探訪、藉欲知爾信德、深恐誘人之物乘間誘爾、則我等之所為孳孳不倦者、盡付東流矣。
