This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

When you bear a lot of fruit, it brings glory to my Father. It shows that you are my disciples.

By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

耶穌因謂之曰：『爾能恪守吾道、是真吾徒、

爾之光輝、亦當燭照世人、庶幾世人皆見爾善行、而歸榮於爾在天之父。

夫主既賜爾以種子、供爾以𩝠糧、亦必使爾之種子發榮滋長而為爾激增正義之果實也。蓋爾等既眾德萃身、而發為慷慨之豪舉、吾儕更當將此慷慨、化為眾口誦主之因緣。是則此項善舉不僅補聖徒之不足、抑且使眾心感謝天主、於以增益天主之光榮。申言之、若輩既見爾等慈善之明徵、必因爾等之服膺聖道及急公好義、而翕然歸榮於天主矣。同時若輩鑒於爾等之滿被聖寵、嚮往之念、必油然而發、且將為爾祈禱矣。於此天主之福澤、實有不可思議者焉。吾人可不心歌而腹詠乎哉！

目覩敵潰。親聞其噩。以戒以愼。以欣以樂。雍雍君子。何以比擬。鳳尾之棕。鬱鬱葱葱。麗盆之柏。暢茂條達。植根聖圃。霑漑化雨。經霜猶青。歷久彌固。嘉實累累。綠蔭交布。

吾為樹身、爾為樹枝。凡寓乎吾身、而有我寓乎其衷者、必結實繁多。離乎吾、爾將一無所能。

凡任宣講者、當講述聖道、一若為天主之舌人者；其任服務者、則當依天主所賦之才力、儘量貢獻。總之、任作何事、務求以耶穌基督之名、歸榮天主。但願天主享受光榮與德能、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

惟愛爾仇人、以德報怨、貸則不望償、斯獲厚報、而得為至尊者之兒女矣。

爾能彼此相愛、此正所以使眾人咸識爾為吾徒也。』

毋私取、披心相付、忠於所事；此正所以顯揚我等救主天主之聖道、於日用之間也。

爾等與異邦人雜處、尤宜慎自檢點、勉立善表、務使謗爾者見爾善行、而頌揚天主於眷顧之日。

嫻靜貞潔、躬操井臼、待人和藹、毋違夫子、庶幾天主聖教、不致為人詬病。

蓋主曾出重價以贖之矣。故爾亟宜在爾身上光榮天主也。

是故飲食舉止、皆須以天主之光榮為前提。
