They gave them Kiriath Arba( that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

在那些日子，马利亚起身，急忙前往山区，来到犹大的一座城，

以色列众支派来到希伯仑见大卫，说：“看哪，我们是你的骨肉。从前扫罗作我们王的时候，率领以色列人出入的是你。耶和华也曾对你说：‘你必牧养我的百姓以色列，你必作以色列的君王。’”于是以色列的众长老都来到希伯仑见王。大卫在希伯仑，在耶和华面前与他们立约，他们就膏大卫作以色列的王。大卫登基的时候年三十岁，作王四十年。他在希伯仑作犹大王七年六个月，在耶路撒冷作以色列和犹大王三十三年。

过了四年，押沙龙对王说：“求你准我往希伯仑去，还我向耶和华所许的愿。

此后，大卫求问耶和华说：“我可以上犹大的一个城去吗？”耶和华对他说：“可以上去。”大卫说：“我上哪一个城去呢？”耶和华说：“希伯仑。”于是大卫和他的两个妻子，一个是耶斯列人亚希暖，一个是作过迦密人拿八妻子的亚比该，都上那里去了。大卫也把跟随他的人和他们各人的眷属一同带上去，住在希伯仑的城镇中。

于是，以色列人划分拿弗他利山区加利利的基低斯、以法莲山区的示剑和犹大山区的基列‧亚巴，基列‧亚巴就是希伯仑。他们在约旦河的另一边，就是耶利哥的东边，从吕便支派中，在旷野的平原设立比悉，从迦得支派中设立基列的拉末，从玛拿西支派中设立巴珊的哥兰。这都是为以色列众人和在他们中间寄居的外人所指定的城镇，使凡误杀人者可以逃到那里，不至于死在报血仇者的手中，直到他站在会众面前受审判。

宏他、基列‧亚巴，基列‧亚巴就是希伯仑，洗珥，共九座城，还有所属的村庄。

雅各来到他父亲以撒那里，到了幔利，基列‧亚巴，就是希伯仑，是亚伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方。
