He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites— all their sins— and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task.

He must place both of his hands on its head. While he does that, he must tell me about all the sins the Israelites have committed. He must tell me about all their evil acts and the times they did not obey me. In that way he puts their sins on the goat’s head. Then he will send the goat away into the desert. The goat will be led away by a man appointed to do it.

And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.

He will lay both of his hands on the goat’s head and confess over it all the wickedness, rebellion, and sins of the people of Israel. In this way, he will transfer the people’s sins to the head of the goat. Then a man specially chosen for the task will drive the goat into the wilderness.

神使那無罪的替我們成為有罪的，使我們在他裡面成為神的義。

我們眾人都如羊走迷了路，各人偏行己路；耶和華卻把我們眾人的罪孽，都歸在他身上。

因為我知道我的過犯；我的罪常在我面前。

我向你承認我的罪，沒有隱藏我的罪孽；我說：“我要向耶和華承認我的過犯”；你就赦免我的罪孽。（細拉）

遮掩自己過犯的，必不亨通；承認並離棄過犯的，必蒙憐憫。

求你側著耳，睜著眼的，垂聽你僕人的禱告，我今天在你面前晝夜為著你的僕人以色列人禱告，承認以色列人所犯的罪，就是我與我父的家向你所犯的罪。我們故意行極大的惡事得罪你，沒有遵守你吩咐你僕人摩西的誡命、律例和典章。

以斯拉禱告、認罪、哭泣，俯伏在神的殿前的時候，有一大群以色列人，包括男女小孩，在他面前聚集；眾人也都痛哭。

因為心裡相信就必稱義，用口承認就必得救。

於是我轉向主神，禁食，披麻蒙灰，藉祈禱和懇求尋求他。我向耶和華我的神禱告、認罪，說：“主啊！偉大可畏的神，你向那些愛你（“你”原文作“他”），遵守你（“你”原文作“他”）誡命的人守約施慈愛。我們犯了罪，行了不義，作了惡，背叛了你，偏離了你的誡命典章；沒有聽從你的僕人眾先知，他們奉你的名向我們的君王、領袖、列祖和國中所有的人民說話。主啊！你是公義的；我們滿面羞愧，正如今日的光景；我們猶大人、耶路撒冷的居民，和被你趕逐到遠近各地的以色列眾人，都因對你不忠而滿面羞愧。耶和華啊！我們和我們的君王、領袖、列祖，都滿面羞愧，因為我們得罪了你。雖然我們背叛了主我們的神，他仍是滿有憐憫和饒恕。我們沒有聽從耶和華我們神的話，沒有遵行他藉著他的僕人眾先知向我們頒布的律法。以色列眾人都違背了你的律法，偏離了你，不聽從你的話，因此，神的僕人摩西的律法書上所記載的咒詛和誓言，都傾倒在我們身上；我們實在得罪了神。他實現了他的預言，按著他向我們和那些治理我們的官長所說過的話，使大災禍臨到我們身上；耶路撒冷所遇的災禍是在普天之下從未發生過的。這一切災禍是按著摩西的律法書上所記載的，臨到了我們身上，但我們仍沒有懇求耶和華我們的神施恩，使我們離開罪孽，明白你的真理。所以耶和華留意使這災禍臨到我們身上，因為耶和華我們的神在他所行的一切事上都是公義的，我們卻沒有聽從他的話。主我們的神啊！你曾用強而有力的手把你的子民從埃及地領出來，使你自己得了名，好像今天一樣。現在，我們犯了罪，作了惡。主啊！求你按著你的一切公義，使你的怒氣和忿怒轉離你的城耶路撒冷，就是你的聖山；因我們的罪和我們列祖的罪孽的緣故，耶路撒冷和你的子民成了在我們四圍的人羞辱的對象。現在，我們的神啊！求你垂聽你僕人的禱告和懇求；主啊！為了你自己的緣故，使你的臉光照你這荒涼了的聖所。我的神啊！求你側耳而聽，睜眼垂顧我們的荒涼，和那稱為你名下的城；因為我們向你懇求，並不是因著自己的義，而是因著你的大憐憫。主啊！求你垂聽。主啊！求你赦免。主啊！求你應允而行。我的神啊！為了你自己的緣故，求你不要耽延。因為你的城和你的子民都是稱為你名下的。”我還在說話、禱告、承認我的罪和我同胞以色列人的罪，為我神的聖山，向耶和華我的神懇求的時候；

如果他在任何一件事上犯了罪，就要承認自己所犯的罪；

“那時他們就會承認自己的罪孽和他們祖先的罪孽，就是他們對我不忠的過犯，又承認因為行事與我的心意相違，

他要按手在燔祭牲的頭上，燔祭就蒙悅納，可以為他贖罪。

那天四分之一的時間，他們站在自己的地方，宣讀耶和華他們的神的律法書；另外四分之一的時間，他們認罪和敬拜耶和華他們的神。耶書亞、巴尼、甲篾、示巴尼、布尼、示利比、巴尼和基拿尼，站立在利未人的臺階上，向耶和華他們的神大聲哀求。利未人耶書亞、甲篾、巴尼、哈沙尼、示利比、荷第雅、示巴尼和毘他希雅說：“你們要起立，稱頌耶和華你們的神，直到永永遠遠。”“耶和華啊，你榮耀的名是應當稱頌的；願你的名被尊崇，超過一切稱頌和讚美。
