  • Mark 14:1 - Two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the chief priests and the experts in the law were trying to find a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.
  • Mark 14:2 - For they said, “Not during the feast, so there won’t be a riot among the people.”
  • Mark 14:3 - Now while Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of costly aromatic oil from pure nard. After breaking open the jar, she poured it on his head.

  • Mark 14:10 - Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands.
  • Mark 14:11 - When they heard this, they were delighted and promised to give him money. So Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray him.
  • Mark 14:12 - Now on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, Jesus’ disciples said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”
  • Mark 14:13 - He sent two of his disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.
  • Mark 14:14 - Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
  • Mark 14:15 - He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”

  • John 18:1 - When he had said these things, Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley. There was an orchard there, and he and his disciples went into it.

  • John 18:6 - So when Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they retreated and fell to the ground.
  • John 18:7 - Then Jesus asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene.”
  • John 18:8 - Jesus replied, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, let these men go.”
  • John 18:9 - He said this to fulfill the word he had spoken, “I have not lost a single one of those whom you gave me.”
  • John 18:10 - Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, pulled it out and struck the high priest’s slave, cutting off his right ear. (Now the slave’s name was Malchus.)
  • John 18:11 - But Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath! Am I not to drink the cup that the Father has given me?”
  • John 18:12 - Then the squad of soldiers with their commanding officer and the officers of the Jewish leaders arrested Jesus and tied him up.
  • John 18:13 - They brought him first to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
  • John 18:14 - (Now it was Caiaphas who had advised the Jewish leaders that it was to their advantage that one man die for the people.)
  • John 18:15 - Simon Peter and another disciple followed them as they brought Jesus to Annas. (Now the other disciple was acquainted with the high priest, and he went with Jesus into the high priest’s courtyard.)
  • John 18:16 - But Simon Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple who was acquainted with the high priest came out and spoke to the slave girl who watched the door, and brought Peter inside.
  • John 18:17 - The girl who was the doorkeeper said to Peter, “You’re not one of this man’s disciples too, are you?” He replied, “I am not.”
  • John 18:18 - (Now the slaves and the guards were standing around a charcoal fire they had made, warming themselves because it was cold. Peter also was standing with them, warming himself.)
  • John 18:19 - While this was happening, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.
  • Psalms 22:1 - My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.
  • Psalms 22:2 - My God, I cry out during the day, but you do not answer, and during the night my prayers do not let up.

  • Psalms 22:8 - They say, “Commit yourself to the Lord! Let the Lord rescue him! Let the Lord deliver him, for he delights in him.”
  • Psalms 22:9 - Yes, you are the one who brought me out from the womb and made me feel secure on my mother’s breasts.
  • Psalms 22:10 - I have been dependent on you since birth; from the time I came out of my mother’s womb you have been my God.
  • Psalms 22:11 - Do not remain far away from me, for trouble is near and I have no one to help me.
  • Psalms 22:12 - Many bulls surround me; powerful bulls of Bashan hem me in.
  • Psalms 22:13 - They open their mouths to devour me like a roaring lion that rips its prey.
  • Psalms 22:14 - My strength drains away like water; all my bones are dislocated; my heart is like wax; it melts away inside me.
  • Psalms 22:15 - The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. You set me in the dust of death.
  • Psalms 22:16 - Yes, wild dogs surround me – a gang of evil men crowd around me; like a lion they pin my hands and feet.
  • Psalms 22:17 - I can count all my bones; my enemies are gloating over me in triumph.
  • Psalms 22:18 - They are dividing up my clothes among themselves; they are rolling dice for my garments.
  • Psalms 22:19 - But you, O Lord, do not remain far away! You are my source of strength! Hurry and help me!
  • Psalms 22:20 - Deliver me from the sword! Save my life from the claws of the wild dogs!
  • Psalms 22:21 - Rescue me from the mouth of the lion, and from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered me!
