Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

What I’m about to tell you is true. No one more important than John the Baptist has ever been born. But the least important person in the kingdom of heaven is more important than he is.

Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

我告爾、凡婦之所生、未有大於施洗約翰者、然在天主之國、至小者猶大於斯人也、

乃爾曹有世事當審、竟使彼不為教會尊重者審之、

耶穌言此、乃指信之者所將受之聖神、蓋當時聖神未降、以耶穌尚未得榮也、

在天主前、世人豈得為義、婦之所生、豈得言潔、

世人為誰、焉得言潔、由婦而生者為誰、豈得稱義、

彼後我來而先我在、即解其履帶、我亦不堪、

孰能使潔者出於不潔、無一能之、

謂門徒曰、凡因我之名接斯孩提者、即接我、接我者、即接遣我者、爾中最小者、將為大也、

人乃婦人所生、年雖少而煩惱多、年雖少而煩惱多或作既不永年且多煩惱

彼在主前將為大、酒與凡醉人者不飲、自母胎而聖神充之、

彼必興、我必衰、

我方生於世、即有過惡、孕於母胎、已有罪孽、

昔我眾亦在其內、逞肉體之慾、隨身心所欲而行、本為天主所怒、與他人無異、

昔先知預言爾所將得之恩、探索此救道而研究之、

今因我主耶穌基督現於世而顯著矣、耶穌已毀死之權、以福音明著永不朽壞之生命、
