凡作惡的都恨光，不來接近光，免得他的惡行暴露出來。

挪亞的時代怎樣，人子降臨的時候也是這樣。

他們並不知道，也不明白；因為耶和華閉住他們的眼睛，使他們不能看見，塞住他們的心，使他們不能明白。沒有人細心思想，也沒有人有知識有聰明說：“我把木頭的一半放在火裡燃燒，我也在炭火上烘過餅，烤過肉吃，剩下的，我卻用來做了一個可憎之物，我要向木頭叩拜嗎？”

因此，他把他猛烈的怒氣和慘酷的戰爭，傾倒在他身上；這在他四周如火燒起來，他還不知道；把他燒著了，他也不放在心上。

全以色列中的精兵，有一萬人前來攻打基比亞，戰爭非常激烈；便雅憫人還不知道災禍快要臨到他們的身上了。

義人關注窮人的冤情；惡人卻不分辨實情。

要摧毀你和你裡面的兒女，沒有一塊石頭留在另一塊石頭上面，因為你不知道那眷顧你的時期。”

因此，我用比喻對他們講話，因為他們看卻看不見，聽也聽不到，也不明白。以賽亞的預言，正應驗在他們身上，他說：‘你們聽是聽見了，總是不明白；看是看見了，總是不領悟。因為這人民的心思遲鈍，用不靈的耳朵去聽，又閉上了眼睛；免得自己眼睛看見，耳朵聽見，心裡明白，回轉過來，我就醫好他們。’

他們既然故意不認識神，神就任憑他們存著敗壞的心，去作那些不正當的事。

他們故意忘記這事：在太古的時候，因著神的話，就有了天，和從水而出、藉水而成的地。

你必說：“人打我，我不痛；人鞭打我，我不曉得；我甚麼時候清醒？我還要再去尋酒。”
