those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;

Some are pure in their own eyes. But their dirty sins haven’t been washed away.

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unrighteous people, adulterers– or even like this tax collector.

All a person’s ways seem right in his own opinion, but the LORD evaluates the motives.

you say,‘ I have not done anything wrong, so the LORD cannot really be angry with me any more.’ But, watch out! I will bring down judgment on you because you say,‘ I have not committed any sin.’

They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these.

They say,‘ Keep to yourself! Don’t get near me, for I am holier than you!’ These people are like smoke in my nostrils, like a fire that keeps burning all day long.

I will sprinkle you with pure water and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols.

he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,

But Jesus said to them,“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in men’s eyes, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly prized among men is utterly detestable in God’s sight.

Wash! Cleanse yourselves! Remove your sinful deeds from my sight. Stop sinning!

All is pure to those who are pure. But to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their minds and consciences are corrupted.They profess to know God but with their deeds they deny him, since they are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good deed.

for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin.

Sprinkle me with water and I will be pure; wash me and I will be whiter than snow.

“ Oh people of Jerusalem, purify your hearts from evil so that you may yet be delivered. How long will you continue to harbor up wicked schemes within you?

Wash away my wrongdoing! Cleanse me of my sin!

Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

But the Lord said to him,“ Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.You fools! Didn’t the one who made the outside make the inside as well?

At mating time she is easy to find.
