‘ Cursed is the one who disrespects his father and mother.’ Then all the people will say,‘ Amen!’

“ Whoever treats his father or his mother disgracefully must surely be put to death.

“‘ If anyone curses his father and mother he must be put to death. He has cursed his father and mother; his blood guilt is on himself.

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they should first learn to fulfill their duty toward their own household and so repay their parents what is owed them. For this is what pleases God.

And you do many things like this.”

They must declare to the elders of his city,“ Our son is stubborn and rebellious and pays no attention to what we say– he is a glutton and drunkard.”Then all the men of his city must stone him to death. In this way you will purge out wickedness from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid.

But if someone does not provide for his own, especially his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

For God said,‘ Honor your father and mother’ and‘ Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’But you say,‘ If someone tells his father or mother,“ Whatever help you would have received from me is given to God,”he does not need to honor his father.’ You have nullified the word of God on account of your tradition.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
