lest I become satisfied and act deceptively and say,“ Who is the LORD?” Or lest I become poor and steal and demean the name of my God.

恐怕我饱足不认你，说：耶和华是谁呢？又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃，以致亵渎我神的名。

免得我饱足了，就不认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃，以致亵渎我上帝的名。

免得我因为饱足就不认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又恐怕我因穷困而偷窃，以致辱没我上帝的名。

免得我吃饱了，就不认你，说：‘耶和华是谁？’又恐怕我贫穷，就偷窃，污渎了我神的名。

免得我饱足了，就否认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又免得我陷入穷困，就去偷窃，以致干犯了我神的名。

免得我飽足了，就否認你，說：「耶和華是誰呢？」又免得我陷入窮困，就去偷竊，以致干犯了我神的名。

恐我飽飫、而不識爾、謂耶和華為誰、或貧乏而行竊、褻瀆我上帝之名、○

恐富而侈、不崇事耶和華、或貧而盜、妄發誓言。

我若富、恐我飽而不認主、云主為誰、我若貧、恐我盜竊、以致妄稱我天主之名、○

Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

If you don’t, I might have too much. Then I might say I don’t know you. I might say,‘ Who is the Lord?’ Or I might become poor and steal. Then I would bring shame to the name of my God.

lest I be full and deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you, saying,“ Who is the LORD?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

So that I will not be full and deny You and say,“ Who is the Lord?” And that I will not become impoverished and steal, And profane the name of my God.

Lest I be full and deny You, And say,“ Who is the Lord?” Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God.

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

Otherwise, I might have too much and deny You, saying,“ Who is the Lord?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God.

Lest I be full, and deny[ thee], and say, Who[ is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God[ in vain].

lest I be full, deny you, and say,‘ Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

When they were fed, they became satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; as a result, they forgot me!

For after I have brought them to the land I promised to their ancestors– one flowing with milk and honey– and they eat their fill and become fat, then they will turn to other gods and worship them; they will reject me and break my covenant.

“‘ See here– this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters had majesty, abundance of food, and enjoyed carefree ease, but they did not help the poor and needy.They were haughty and practiced abominable deeds before me. Therefore when I saw it I removed them.

You will eat your fill and then praise the LORD your God because of the good land he has given you.Be sure you do not forget the LORD your God by not keeping his commandments, ordinances, and statutes that I am giving you today.When you eat your fill, when you build and occupy good houses,when your cattle and flocks increase, when you have plenty of silver and gold, and when you have abundance of everything,be sure you do not feel self-important and forget the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, the place of slavery,

“ If I have put my confidence in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security!’if I have rejoiced because of the extent of my wealth, or because of the great wealth my hand had gained,if I looked at the sun when it was shining, and the moon advancing as a precious thing,so that my heart was secretly enticed, and my hand threw them a kiss from my mouth,then this also would be iniquity to be judged, for I would have been false to God above.

But Jeshurun became fat and kicked, you got fat, thick, and stuffed! Then he deserted the God who made him, and treated the Rock who saved him with contempt.

“ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone who takes his name in vain.

You people of this generation, listen to what the LORD says.“ Have I been like a wilderness to you, Israel? Have I been like a dark and dangerous land to you? Why then do you say,‘ We are free to wander. We will not come to you any more?’

Then when the LORD your God brings you to the land he promised your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you– a land with large, fine cities you did not build,houses filled with choice things you did not accumulate, hewn out cisterns you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant– and you eat your fill,be careful not to forget the LORD who brought you out of Egypt, that place of slavery.

But Pharaoh said,“ Who is the LORD that I should obey him by releasing Israel? I do not know the LORD, and I will not release Israel!”

Joshua said to all the people,“ Look, this stone will be a witness against you, for it has heard everything the LORD said to us. It will be a witness against you if you deny your God.”

They captured fortified cities and fertile land. They took possession of houses full of all sorts of good things– wells previously dug, vineyards, olive trees, and fruit trees in abundance. They ate until they were full and grew fat. They enjoyed to the full your great goodness.“ Nonetheless they grew disobedient and rebelled against you; they disregarded your law. They killed your prophets who had solemnly admonished them in order to cause them to return to you. They committed atrocious blasphemies.

Now don’t let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to rescue his people from my power or the power of my predecessors. So how can your gods rescue you from my power?’”Sennacherib’s servants further insulted the LORD God and his servant Hezekiah.He wrote letters mocking the LORD God of Israel and insulting him with these words:“ The gods of the surrounding nations could not rescue their people from my power. Neither can Hezekiah’s god rescue his people from my power.”

Indeed, the scepter of a wicked king will not settle upon the allotted land of the godly. Otherwise the godly might do what is wrong.

People do not despise a thief when he steals to fulfill his need when he is hungry.Yet if he is caught he must repay seven times over, he might even have to give all the wealth of his house.

Whoever shares with a thief is his own enemy; he hears the oath to testify, but does not talk.

At that he began to curse, and he swore with an oath,“ I do not know the man!” At that moment a rooster crowed.

“‘ When a person sins in that he hears a public curse against one who fails to testify and he is a witness( he either saw or knew what had happened) and he does not make it known, then he will bear his punishment for iniquity.

But the crowd began to shout,“ The voice of a god, and not of a man!”Immediately an angel of the Lord struck Herod down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died.

Your fame spread among the nations because of your beauty; your beauty was perfect because of the splendor which I bestowed on you, declares the sovereign LORD.“‘ But you trusted in your beauty and capitalized on your fame by becoming a prostitute. You offered your sexual favors to every man who passed by so that your beauty became his.

He denied it again with an oath,“ I do not know the man!”

The king uttered these words:“ Is this not the great Babylon that I have built for a royal residence by my own mighty strength and for my majestic honor?”

This announcement is by the decree of the sentinels; this decision is by the pronouncement of the holy ones, so that those who are alive may understand that the Most High has authority over human kingdoms, and he bestows them on whomever he wishes. He establishes over them even the lowliest of human beings.’
