這樣看來，人所沒相信的、人怎能呼求呢？所沒聽到的、人怎能相信呢？沒有宣傳的，人怎能聽見呢？

既然如此，人沒有相信他，怎麼能求告他呢？沒有聽說過他，怎麼能相信他呢？沒有人傳講，怎麼能聽到呢？

然未嘗信之、何由籲之、未嘗聞之、何由信之、未有宣者、何由聞之、

曰、未信之、何能龥之、未聞之、何能信之、

然未信之、何能籲之、未聞之、何能信之、無傳者、何能聞乎、

然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

耶稣又对他们说：“你们要到世界各地去，向全人类传扬福音。相信并接受洗礼的人必定得救，不肯相信的人必被定罪。

祂在所定的时候，借着人的传扬将自己的道显明出来。我奉我们救主上帝的命令传扬这道。

又对他们说：“圣经上说，基督必受害，然后在第三天从死里复活，人们要奉祂的名传扬悔改、赦罪的福音，从耶路撒冷一直传遍万国。

如果你们听过祂的事，领受了祂的教诲，就是在祂里面的真理，

出于信心的祷告必能使病人痊愈，主必使他康复。倘若他犯了罪，也必得到赦免。

我将把你从你的同胞和外族人手中救出来。我差遣你到他们那里，去开他们的眼睛，使他们弃暗投明，脱离魔鬼的权势，归向上帝，好叫他们的罪得到赦免，与所有因信我而圣洁的人同得基业。’

然而主站在我身旁加给我力量，使我可以把福音清楚地传给外族人。主把我从狮子口里救了出来。

感谢上帝！祂能使你们刚强，正如我所传讲的福音和耶稣基督的教导。这福音是自古隐藏、从未显明的奥秘，如今按着永恒上帝的命令，借着先知们所写的经书公诸于世，让世人都信从耶稣基督。

我们从祂领受了恩典并成为使徒，要带领万民信从祂，使祂的名得荣耀。

尼尼微城的人相信了上帝的话，便宣告禁食，所有的人，无论大小贵贱都换上麻衣。尼尼微王听到这消息后，便走下宝座，脱下王袍，披上麻衣，坐在炉灰中。王又向全城颁布命令，说：“王和大臣有令，所有的人都必须禁食，牛羊牲畜都不许吃草也不许喝水。人和牲畜都必须披上麻衣，众人要向上帝恳切呼求，改邪归正，停止作恶。上帝或许会施怜悯，收回烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”

约拿回答说：“我是希伯来人，我敬畏耶和华，祂是创造海洋陆地、掌管诸天的上帝。”之后，他就把怎样逃避耶和华的事告诉他们。众人知道后，万分恐惧，问他：“你怎么做出这种事？”那时，风浪越来越大，他们便对约拿说：“我们要怎样处置你，才能使风浪平静呢？”

没有信心的人不能得到上帝的喜悦，因为来到上帝面前的人必须相信上帝存在，并相信祂会赏赐一切寻求祂的人。

他说：“没有人为我解释，我怎能明白呢？”他就请腓利上车和他一起坐。

而记载这些事的目的是为了使你们相信耶稣就是基督，是上帝的儿子，并且使你们这些信祂的人可以靠祂的名得到生命。

保罗问他们：“你们信的时候有没有领受圣灵？”他们说：“没有！我们从来没有听过圣灵的事。”

水手们非常害怕，纷纷呼求自己的神，又把船上的货物全都抛进海里，以减轻重量。这时候，约拿已下到底舱，躺在那里呼呼大睡。

“如果有远方的外族人听说你的大能大力，慕名而来，向着这殿祷告，

众人都极其敬畏耶和华，向祂献祭，并且许愿。
