What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

如此说来，我们的祖宗亚伯拉罕凭着肉体得了什么呢？

这样，那按肉体作我们祖宗的亚伯拉罕，我们要怎么说呢？

那么，我们说我们肉体上的先祖亚伯拉罕得到了什么呢？

如此說來，我們的祖宗亞伯拉罕憑着肉體得了甚麼呢？

這樣，那按肉體作我們祖宗的亞伯拉罕，我們要怎麼說呢？

這樣，那按肉體作我們祖宗的亞伯拉罕，我們要怎麼說呢？

那麼，從我們的先祖亞伯拉罕身上，我們學到什麼呢？

這樣，關於那按肉身做我們先祖的亞伯拉罕、我們要怎麼說呢？

那麼，我們說我們肉體上的先祖亞伯拉罕得到了什麼呢？

如是、試問我祖亞伯拉罕依其形軀所得者、何耶、

曰、何以稱之、吾祖亞伯拉罕徒事儀文、有所得乎、

然則我祖亞伯拉罕、我儕可謂其以本身所行者以本身所行者原文作循肉體何所得乎、

即就吾祖亞伯漢而論、若祇憑其本身之智力、亦何所得乎？

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter?

What should we say about these things? What did Abraham, the father of our people, discover about being right with God?

What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh?

Abraham was, humanly speaking, the founder of our Jewish nation. What did he discover about being made right with God?

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh?

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh?

What then can we say that Abraham, our physical ancestor, has found?

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, has discovered regarding this matter?

What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather, has found according to the flesh?

This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, to guarantee it to all the descendants— not only to the one who is of the law but also to the one who is of Abraham’s faith. He is the father of us all.

Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who gave birth to you. When I called him, he was only one; I blessed him and made him many.

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the descendants of Abraham? So am I.

“ We are descendants of Abraham,” they answered him,“ and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say,‘ You will become free’?”

‘ Father Abraham!’ he called out,‘ Have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame!’“‘ Son,’ Abraham said,‘ remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

“ Brothers and sisters, children of Abraham’s race, and those among you who fear God, it is to us that the word of this salvation has been sent.

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.”

What should we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! But I would not have known sin if it were not for the law. For example, I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, Do not covet.

I know you are descendants of Abraham, but you are trying to kill me because my word has no place among you.I speak what I have seen in the presence of the Father; so then, you do what you have heard from your father.”“ Our father is Abraham,” they replied.“ If you were Abraham’s children,” Jesus told them,“ you would do what Abraham did.But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.You’re doing what your father does.”“ We weren’t born of sexual immorality,” they said.“ We have one Father— God.”

What, then, are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

“ But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the prophets; they should listen to them.’“‘ No, father Abraham,’ he said.‘ But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’“ But he told him,‘ If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.’”

Are you greater than our father Abraham who died? And the prophets died. Who do you claim to be?”

And don’t presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

Furthermore, we had human fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Shouldn’t we submit even more to the Father of spirits and live?

What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply?
